CHILDREN | |
Wendy Darling VA: Christina Lange The oldest Darling sibling who mothers all the Lost Boys. She's the voice of reason and constantly has to talk Peter out of doing something rash. She also likes going on adventures, isn't afraid to speak her mind, and frequently confronts Captain Hook without fear. Girlboss.
John Darling VA: Jack Lynch The middle sibling who dearly wants to be part of the Lost Boy clan, yet is a little more sensible and/or apprehensive about some of their shenanigans. None of the Darling children have English accents (thanks, American production), but John speaks with the most English diction.
Michael Darling VA: Whitby Hertford The baby brother who is in endless need of rescuing. Wendy coddles him, much to his ire. His voice has to be pitched up to make him sound like a five-year-old.
Nibs VA: Adam Carl The oldest Lost Boy who serves as second-in-command. He's the most responsible and mature of the lot, yet is very brave and doesn't shy away from danger. He's a true bro.
Slightly VA: Scott Menville Another older Lost Boy with a high opinion of himself. He's after that second-in-command position, and is always going on quests to prove his quality. He injects the word "slightly" into his speech regularly, and his friends sometimes do the same around him.
Curly VA: Josh Keaton A fun-loving lad who cracks jokes and plays pranks. Often seen with Nibs and Slightly as he's closer to their age. There's not much else remarkable about him, but he's a likable guy.
Tootles VA: Chris M. Allport The youngest boy until the appeareance of Michael. He often gets left out, but he's so bumbling and slow that it's easy to see why. He's panda-themed and sports a black spot over his left eye. Does he paint it on every day? What does he use for paint? Does it irritate his eye? I have many questions.
The Twins VA: Michael Bacall (Short Twin), Aaron Lohr (Tall Twin) These two are so in sync that they're just twins and that's that. No names or individuality. No one questions why they don't look a thing alike. Since two heads are better than one, they're the mechanics of the household, always building contraptions or offering solutions.
PIRATES | |
Captain James Hook VA: Tim Curry Literally the best depiction of the character to ever exist, mostly thanks to the masterful Tim Curry. Ruthless, fearsome, eloquent (so damn eloquent), and cultured, he has a lot of depth for a cartoon villain. I overlook his white hair because this captain has the hook on the correct hand for once.
Bosun Smee VA: Ed Gilbert The most diminutive Smee you'll ever see. There's not a thought in his head but to do whatever his captain orders. He's Irish and thankfully avoids any overwrought stereotypes (except a few references to leprechauns now and then).
Robert Mullins VA: Jack Angel A pirate from Brooklyn who sometimes lapses into Italian. I think he's meant to be combined with Cecco from the original text. For all his rough talk and fierce fighting, he's superstitious to a fault and cites "evil" and "witchcraft" for anything out of the ordinary. Gets nauseous if he's on land too long.
Billy Jukes VA: Eugene Williams The youngest member of Hook's crew, he's the chief gunner and engineer, and ofttimes ordered to invent some creative machinery. Depending on who's writing, he's also a put-upon cabin boy shunned by the pirates. Though too young for facial hair, he's voiced by a very grown man, which makes him sound far older. Many a girl in the '90s fell in love with him (including me).
Ignatious P. Starkey VA: David Shaughnessy A foppish gentleman pirate with no shortage of rapier skill nor snark. Some internet sources say he's French, but I'm pretty certain he's as English as his captain. Frequently mentions his aristocratic upbringing, which included a governess and private schooling. He likes dancing, wine, and writing to his dear old mum (there's no postal service in Neverland, you dolt).
Alf Mason VA: Tony Jay The strongman and carpenter of the crew, voiced by the legendary Tony Jay in a rare non-main-villain role. Often presented as being kind of a lunkhead, but seems to have hidden depths and a knack for artistry. He once built a fine armoire for Hook (with magical influence), and possesses an extensive knowledge of types of wood. I think he's vaguely Cockney.
Eucrates Cookson VA: Jack Angel A fat and slow-witted man with a thick Greek accent. In Barrie's original, he's the rumored brother of an infamous pirate. Here he's the ship's cook because that's what's on the tin, even though he's very bad at it. How are his crewmates not dead from poisoning or starvation. To show how Greek he is, he often swears to Zeus and other ancient gods, the heathen.
INDIANS | |
Great Big Little Panther VA: Michael Wise The chief and shaman of his tribe, he doles out wisdom to the children, his own and their friends. He has legitimate magical skill, differentiated from faerie magic. I dearly want to know how Native Americans came to be transplanted in Neverland.
Tiger Lily VA: Cree Summer Panther's tomboy daughter. She's a pragmatic action girl who doesn't harbor romantic feelings for Peter or anyone else, which is a refreshing adaptation. Woefully underused in this series.
Hard to Hit VA: Aaron Lohr An original character, Tiger Lily's younger brother who often annoys her. He gets into scrapes and is competitive with Peter, but he's a good kid at heart.
OTHERS | |
Tinker Bell VA: Debi Derryberry A very pink and feisty version of the iconic fairy lass. She wants Peter all to herself and makes no effort to hide her jealousy of Wendy or even the Lost Boys. An authority on magical subjects, she seems to have some influence in faerie society. She's on good terms with the king and queen, even.
Mermaids VA: various The vain and two-faced mean girls of the sea. There are a variety of them with different designs, but they all wear leotards which match the color of their tails. How. They're always trying to kidnap Peter to be their underwater boytoy. They never think this through.
Crooked Tail VA: Linda Gary An exception in the shallow mermaid community. A backfired beauty potion/chemical mixup altered her appearance permanently, but changed her personality for the better. She has a good sense of humor and helps wayward children out of underwater misadventures.
The Girl Who Lives in the Moon VA: Kath Soucie A nameless girl whose sole responsibility is to push the moon across the sky in order to maintain the flow of time in Neverland. Yet more than once she's left the moon with no ill effects from the tides, delayed sunrise, or anything else natural. She's quite charmed by Captain Hook and Peter Pan both.
The Croc An enormous female crocodile who's always on the hunt for food. Particularly man-flesh. She's swallowed the clock that keeps time in Neverland, so its ticking indicates her arrival. Her teeth are oddly humanlike, including the gold one. Methinks she's a little supernatural. |
